Andy Sylvester Artist

Welcome to my site! This highlights some of my work across different genres.

As a painter, I work primarily using acrylic pigments on board or card building images over a period of time. I reference photographic sources, gathered during face-to-face sittings or utilising socially shared images. I am especially fascinated by the ‘selfie’ as a new form of portraiture.

I am interested in the way that colour, line, mark and texture within my work. My work often makes reference to art history, literature,

classicism and symbolism to evoke a narrative or an emotion.

I have work in several public and private collections.  I am available for commissioned portraits.

Like what you see and wish to know more about purchasing a painting, or discuss commissioning a work? Please get in touch and I will come back to you promptly.

Or alternatively you can see all work for sale at my Big Cartel shop using the link at the top of this page.
